Gobble Till You Wobble- Poultry Sale Hits The Stuffing Jackpot
Buyers piled in ringside at our dressed poultry sale, all desperate to grab Christmas dinner in the nick of time and with nobody going cold turkey this close to the big day.
A full entry of 254 birds strutted through the ring let by a dominant 213 Turkeys, 3 Guinea Fowl, 10 Chickens and 18 Geese making sure no festive table went under- feathered. Trade was absolutely flying, with Turkeys averaging a tremendous £54 leaving vendors crowing and buyers winging it no longer. A cracking top price of £160 was achieved by DH Lucas & FA Nairey proving the best birds still rule the roost when Christmas panic sets in. Even a Christmas cake slipped through the ring meaning this sale genuinely had all the trimmings. A packed ringside, frantic buying and prices well and truly stuffed – Christmas saved.
